Over the last few weeks we have been working on a system that we thought would benefit current customers as well as potential customers. We are happy to announce that this new system is now live and available to all customers. Our new Invitation System will allow you to invite a friend or a group of friends to our website in the hopes that they will signup. Now there is where it gets good, if this referral/friend signs up for any of our packages, you AND your friend will both get an account credit of up to $20 each.

It gets even better…we do not limit the amount of friends you can invite. You can invite 1 friend or 100 and for each one that purchases one of our packages, you will get credit placed in your account and so will each friend at the same time. The payouts are as follows:

Web Hosting Package – $10 Credit for each person

Reseller Hosting Package – $15 Credit for each person

Semi-Dedicated Hosting Package – $20 Credit for each person

These credits will be placed in your account after a holding period of 45 days to ensure your referral stays active threw the 30 Day Money Back Guarantee period. These credits can be used for new invoices or for new packages all together, making this system a win, win all the way around.

For more information on our Invitation System, follow the link below:

You might not think it is necessary to have your website load fast. You might think that as long as you have pertinent content available to your targeted user and it’s SEO optimized, your site will pop up on the first few ranking pages of search engines.

This is not true anymore. Google has enhanced its web crawling spiders to not only harvest information about a particular website’s content, but also about loading speed of the pages on that site. This means that even if you have the most relevant product or information matching a user’s query, if your site doesn’t load fast enough, it might not be ranked highly on the search results pages (SERPs) by Google. Site speed might stop you from getting the visibility you deserve or need to grow your business and remain profitable.

One of the key elements to keep in mind that will make your site load faster is to reduce the number of HTTP requests required to render the page. As much as 80% of the time it takes to load your page is due to the amount of HTTP requests needed to load it the first time the user stumbles on it. This includes requests to load images, Flash, java scripts, style sheets, etc. If your initial landing page takes too long to load, many users will just click the back button instantly, meaning you will lose a potentially valuable client. Google’s spiders have realized this impatience on the part of users; that’s why they may no longer rank some websites high in the search results, despite the fact that it might contain relevant data. Here’s what you can do:

1. You can compress images a few ways to make them less cumbersome to load. Combine your inline images into your style sheets to effectively reduce the size of your pages and thus reduce the number of HTTP requests. You can also combine multiple images into one image map; the number of HTTP requests will be fewer, but the page size will remain the same. Use CSS Sprites to combine your background …

With changing times you can see similar changes in technology, all these changes are made to minimize our efforts. Some of the changes have revolutionized the way we are using technology and implementation of such technologies becomes important to accommodate the increased number of users. One such change, which we will experience in coming years, is introduction of LiteSpeed based servers. With introduction of recent version of LiteSpeed, which can be used for hosting personal or commercial website and has proven that is almost 6 times faster than the Apache Servers. If you use it effectively and make changes, accordingly you can get 9 times faster results for your web site speed no matter if you are using the shared web hosting platform also.

To start with, LiteSpeed powered hosting has a built-in cache functionality, which is further improvised in the current 4.0 version. LiteSpeed is fully compatible with all the latest modules of Apache and all the hosting panels that work with Apache are equally compatible with LiteSpeed.

All the major web hosting control panels work in same accordance with LiteSpeed like cPanel, Plesk and Direct Admin. So you don’t have to worry about the interface as you can use the same interface you were using in Apache.

LiteSpeed equally boosts the performance on Static and Dynamic pages and Where Apache needs third party interfaces for several features, LiteSpeed has several built in features as a static load balancer and anti-DDoS technology.

Litespeed will provide amazing Ruby on Rails performance along with 50% PHP speed increase. If you are reseller with many clients then you can see the difference in performance by PEARL daemon and the CGI daemon.

By integrating CloudLinux‘s LVE technology in to LiteSpeed server its performance is further maximized within the available infrastructure where you need not have to bring in additional hardware.

Most of the applications rely on.htaccess, which is an Apache- compatible control panel, which is used to change the web server configuration without accessing the main configuration file. In LiteSpeed,.htaccess is simplified with control panel managed administration giving increased performance and enhanced …

Reseller hosting is a form of web hosting where the account owner can sell their allotted hard drive space and bandwidth to third party customers. In most cases, the reseller will be able to choose desirable packages to sell to their customers for a reasonable profit. The world of reseller hosting can become a simple task as long as the right tools and tricks are acquired for those who are interested. To help you begin your own reseller hosting venture here are a few tips:

Don’t Overestimate Your Client Base

The best way to start out any venture is to start off small. You will not need a whole plethora of computers and internet connections to start your own reseller hosting service, all you need is one PC and your ordinary internet connection. Another thing to remember is that you don’t need to gather an immense amount of intel about technical applications because you will be working within the realm of customer relations more so than web site hosting or development. You do not want to start your venture assuming that you will gather 1,000,000 customers within a month because those unrealistic boundaries can lead to a loss in money and less profit.

Don’t Forget to Market and Promote

Although you may have established a reasonably large clientele there is always room to improve and to expand your client base. Many resellers forget that operating a business under this sector requires constant and dedicated marketing schemes and promotional habits which can cause them to fail. No one is going to sign up for your services if they don’t know that you exist so make sure that you create a professional website for your reseller hosting venture and run an effective ad campaign.

Establish Dedicated Customers

Every venture needs to start somewhere and so to gather your beginning customer base there are a couple of groups of people that you should focus your efforts on. Talk with your family members to sign up with your service, you would be surprised at how beneficial working with family members can be because your …

MonsterMegs Web Hosting is powered by LiteSpeed Webserver. Great – but what does that mean & why should you be interested?

Studies have shown that in today’s fast paced world, visitors make a decision about ‘liking’ a website in the first 5 seconds. LiteSpeed is fast and will deliver your content to your visitors faster than an Apache-Based webhost. Therefore, LightSpeed may increase your ad revenue because visitors are more likely to open additional pages. In addition, LightSpeed may increase the chances that the visitors will come back again.

LiteSpeed is a high-performance, secure, easy-to-use, and Apache interchangeable web server. It supports HTTP/1.1, SSL, CGI, FastCGI, LSAPI, PHP, JSP, Servlets, GZIP compression, chroot, IP level throttling, connection accounting, DoS attack prevention, and instant recovery mechanisms. In non geek speak, it’s a program that runs on the server and listens for requests from visitors. When it gets a request, it responds to it by sending the content the visitor requested. If you have a website, you’ve probably heard of Apache – it’s the most widely used web server in the world. I’d be willing to bet that your current web hosting company uses it to serve your content. So…what sets LiteSpeed apart?

Speed - LiteSpeed is 6 times faster when serving images, javascript, css, and other static content, and 50% faster when delivering PHP based content like WordPress.

Performance - Denial of Service [DoS] attacks are very common and can easily take an Apache hosted website offline. LiteSpeed offers protection from such attacks and is capable of shrugging off most of these attacks.

Interoperability – LiteSpeed is completely interchangeable with Apache. LightSpeed offers .htaccess support, as well as everything else needed by users.

From an administrator’s perspective, LiteSpeed is great. The RAM usage is exponentially better than Apache. LightSpeed has a cache module built in and administration is a snap.

Help yourself out. Help some children out. Move over to MonsterMegs Web Hosting. We offer a 30 day, money back guarantee. We’ll even move your website over for you…completely free, of course!…

CloudLinux is a revolutionary Operating System that allows each cPanel account on our servers to have it’s own CPU allocations. With a standard Linux installation, a single user can cause issues for everybody else on the server, where as with CloudLinux that account would be limited to their own CPU allocation and would not cause issues for everybody else on the server.

One of the largest benefits of CloudLinux is that it will keep a single account from overwhelming a server and causing slow performance or downtime. Each and every account is limited to a maximum of 1 CPU Core instead of having free and open reign to system resources, and since we run high end servers with multiple cores this effectively means that it’s extraordinarily unlikely for the server that your account is on to become slow or unresponsive due to the actions of one, or even a handfull of customers.

Detailed Explanation

Now you have a basic idea of what this fancy software does. If you’re content with knowing that it just works, carry on to the next section. If you want some more info, stay tuned. Most of what we’re going to cover can be found at http://cloudlinux.com/docs/index.php but we’ll hit on it here.

LVE – LVE, short for Lightweight Virtual Environment, is the driving technology behind the CL methodology. LVE, developed exclusively by the folks over at Cloud Linux, is a kernel level technology which handles the isolation and resource monitoring that CL is able to provide. LVE brings together technology provided by Apache modules and the Linux kernel. More reading available here: http://cloudlinux.com/docs/workingwithlve.php

LVE and cPanel / WHM – CL has developed a plugin specifically for use on cPanel / WHM based systems. Installed through yum (CentOS package manager), the plugin allows you to view resource accurate up to the last second, and also allows you to edit default and individual LVE limits.

Installation – Installation is really quite simple for us at least since we’re using CentOS and cPanel. All you need to do is wget their installation script, run the script and authenticate …

Today we are very excited to announce that we have partnered with CloudFlare, a new and innovative Content Delivery Network Provider. We have provided a small summary of CloudFlare’s service below.

CloudFlare decreases your website loading times and helps protect against malicious threats online. A few of their system highlights are:

Your site loads faster, uses less bandwidth, and serves fewer requests by filtering out the malicious traffic.

CloudFlare uses a CDN type delivery strategy to cache static content, reducing load times for visitors all across the world

Increased security measures. CloudFlare makes use of its global network to identify malicious traffic and filter based on that detection.

Statistics and traffic reporting provide a better insight into your sites traffic demographic

For more information on CloudFlare, please visit their website at https://www.cloudflare.com/overview.html.

Advantages of the CloudFlare system:

Site Performance Improvement: CloudFlare has proxy servers located throughout the world. Proxy servers are located closer to your visitors, which means they will see page load speed improvements as the cached content is delivered from the closest caching box instead of directly off our server. There is a lot of research that shows that a faster a site, the longer a visitor stays.

Bot and Threat Protection: CloudFlare uses data from Project Honey Pot and other third party sources, as well as the data from its community, to identify malicious threats online and stop the attacks before they even get to your site. You can see which threats are being stopped through your CloudFlare dashboard here.

Spam Comments Protection: CloudFlare leverages data from third party resources to reduce the number of spam comments on your site

Alerting Visitors of Infected Computers: CloudFlare alerts human visitors that have an infected computer that they need to take action to clean up the malware or virus on their machine. The visitor can enter a CAPTCHA to gain access to your site.

Always Online Mode: In the event that our server is unavailable, visitors should still be able to access your site since CloudFlare serves the visitor a page from its cache.

Lower CPU
…

To set up a web hosting company requires a lot of investment; powerful servers must be acquired, high-tech hardware must be installed, sophisticated telecommunication gadgets must be put in place, system security software must be on ground, well-trained staff must be ready for smooth operation and so on. With all these financial commitments by a hosting company, can it offer its services for free?

The internet is currently full of free hosting providers claiming to be the best at what they do. But the truth of the matter is that they have their way of having returns on their investments. If you have ever signed up for a free hosting package, you would notice a lot of advertisements placed on your web pages. In fact, the adverts would be more prominent than your content. At times, you would encounter a lot of pop-up ads, porn-ads, pop-under ads, etc. If your planned site is a hobby site or one for friends and family, free hosting might be okay for you. But if your site is tailored for business, free hosting might ruin it.

Web hosting is now more affordable than before with different packages to choose from; shared, VPS or dedicated. If you can not afford VPS and dedicated because they are little bit expensive, shared hosting is your best bet. With as low as $3.95 a month, you can get one from a reliable company. What are the features you should look out for on a shared platform?

Disk space: Find out the amount of disk space that will be allotted to you. Make sure it would be enough to contain your present and future files.

Bandwidth: This determines the number of people who can access your website at the same time and at a particular period. The higher the bandwidth, the higher the number of visitors that can access your site. Confirm from the service provider the amount of bandwidth that would be allocated to you.

Control panel: Since you are trying to cut down on expenses, you should choose a service provider with a control panel on its …
